Mokpo National University, 2025 Regular Admission Competition Rate 4.63 to 1

Up 86.7 Percentage Points Year-on-Year... Highest Among Four-Year Universities in Honam Region

National Mokpo University (President Song Hacheol) closed applications for the 2025 regular admissions and received a total of 1,172 applicants, the highest number among national flagship universities in the Honam region, resulting in a high competition rate of 4.63 to 1. This figure represents an 86.7% increase compared to 2024, marking the highest growth rate among four-year universities in the Honam region.

National Mokpo University, which recorded a high competition rate in this regular admissions cycle, also achieved a 89.8% fill rate for its quota during the previous early admissions. This outcome is interpreted as a result of being selected as a Glocal University by the Ministry of Education and the restructuring of its academic system.

President Song Hacheol stated, “Despite the challenging environment caused by the declining school-age population, our university members have worked together for bold educational innovation and the joint growth of both the region and the university.” He added, “We will continue striving to establish our status as a Glocal University, develop the region’s higher education ecosystem as a leading global green marine industry university and key national university, and grow as a university focused on the best student welfare and culture and arts.”
