Compensation for 17 Items Including Agricultural Machinery Accidents and Natural Disaster Injuries
Automatic Enrollment for Residents... Compensation Up to 20 Million KRW
Goseong-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Ham Myeong-jun) announced on the 8th that it will promote the ‘2025 Goseong-gun Citizen Safety Insurance Enrollment’ to promptly compensate for damages caused by various disasters and safety accidents that may occur in the daily lives of Goseong residents.

The Citizen Safety Insurance automatically enrolls residents with an address in Goseong-gun without a separate application. Those who move out during the coverage period from January to December 2025 will be automatically canceled, and those who move in will be automatically enrolled upon reporting their move-in. Registered foreigners are also included. However, injury death under the age of 15 is not covered according to commercial law.
This year’s coverage items include a total of 17 categories: ▲death or permanent disability due to natural disaster injury ▲death or permanent disability due to social disaster injury ▲death or permanent disability due to explosion, fire, collapse, or landslide injury ▲death or permanent disability due to injury while using public transportation ▲death by drowning accident ▲treatment expenses for injuries from school zone traffic accidents ▲injuries to persons of merit ▲death or permanent disability due to agricultural machinery accidents ▲death or permanent disability due to gas accidents ▲burn surgery expenses ▲emergency room treatment expenses for dog bite accidents, among others.
Insurance payouts can be compensated up to a maximum of 20 million KRW. In particular, this year, the coverage limit for death and permanent disability due to social disasters has been raised from the previous 10 million KRW to 20 million KRW.
To claim insurance, the victim or legal heir must report the accident to the Korea Local Finance Association, and submit the insurance claim form along with supporting documents that verify the accident facts and damage details.
Jung Hoon-gak, Head of the Safety and Traffic Division of Goseong-gun, said, “To support the stability of residents’ lives from unexpected disasters or accidents, we will strengthen the promotion of Citizen Safety Insurance and gradually expand the coverage items.”
