CU, Buy a Sandwich and Get an Iced Americano for '500 Won'

get Coffee Sold 230 Million Cups Last Year
1000 Won Discount When Purchased with Ready Meals
500 Won Discount for KakaoPay Payment on Morning Coffee

CU, a convenience store operated by BGF Retail, announced on the 8th that it will hold various events to enhance customer benefits in line with the strong sales of its instant ground coffee brand 'get Coffee'.


First, CU is running a combo event that offers a 1,000 won discount when purchasing convenience foods together with get Coffee. The discount applies to four types of get Coffee (Hot L·Venti, Iced XL·Venti), and if customers purchase convenience foods such as sandwiches, hamburgers, roasted sweet potatoes, or processed eggs together, they receive the discount. For example, if you buy a sandwich and a get Coffee Americano L, the coffee is offered for 500 won.

Reflecting the recent increase in consumer tendency to purchase bakery products together with get Coffee, CU has expanded the combo discount range to include instant donuts this month. In fact, the combined purchase rate of bakery products and get Coffee increased by about 20% compared to the previous month. In addition, the Bakehouse 405 series, Yonsei Milk fresh cream bread series, and fresh cream strawberry sandwich are also eligible for the combo event.


For customers looking for coffee during the morning hours, a time sale has been prepared. Between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., if you pay for get Iced Americano XL with KakaoPay Money, you can get a 500 won discount. Furthermore, if you purchase any get Coffee product with the Shinhan SOL Travel Check Card, you receive a 5% discount on the payment amount at all times. The maximum discount per transaction is 2,000 won.


CU's get Coffee has gained popularity for its cost-effectiveness, selling more than 230 million cups last year. This means an average of 19 million cups per month and over 63,000 cups per day. In particular, the get Americano in Venti size, the first of its kind in the industry, saw sales increase fivefold within one year of its launch.


Jo Su-yeon, product planner (MD) of the Beverage Food Team at BGF Retail, said, "As coffee franchises have consecutively raised beverage prices due to the rise in coffee bean prices, convenience store instant coffee with excellent cost-effectiveness is establishing itself as a reasonable alternative in customers' consumption lives." She added, "CU will continue to introduce highly competitive products and marketing events to enhance real benefits for customers."
