Recognized for 'Educational Internationalization Competence,' Boosting School Growth and Development
Daeshin University, a traditional mission school located in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, is preparing for a leap forward in 2025 and is rising vigorously.
Marking its 71st anniversary this year, Daeshin University has set this year as a time for internal and external growth and consolidation, confidently starting the year.
On the 7th, Daeshin University announced that it has obtained the certification (preliminary certification) for the ‘2024 Education Internationalization Competency Certification System’ conducted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Designated as a certified university in the ‘2024 Education Internationalization Competency Certification System,’ which has been implemented since 2011 to expand the recruitment of excellent foreign students and enhance the internationalization competency of domestic students, Daeshin University proves that its capabilities have been verified externally.
The purpose of the Ministry of Education in implementing the ‘Education Internationalization Competency Certification System’ is to eradicate fraudulent study abroad and illegal stay, and to foster foreign students who are talented and possess academic competence.
So far, various problems caused by illegal foreign students have occurred throughout Korea, and voices calling for improvement have been raised in many parts of society.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education selects and certifies universities with excellent capabilities through evaluations of ‘illegal stay rate,’ ‘strategy and selection,’ ‘student support,’ and ‘student management and performance’ to prevent illegal stay and other problems, and provides various policy benefits to certified universities.
Under the leadership of President Choi Dae-hae, Daeshin University, living up to its reputation as a Christian mission university, has braved difficulties and managed the university with integrity, resulting in excellent evaluations in all indicators and achieving the great success of being certified in the ‘2024 Education Internationalization Competency Certification System.’
Furthermore, Daeshin University has set its business goal as ‘Glocal Service Person’ and is leading a learning revolution and glocal higher education innovation model by proactively introducing various contents and systems to cultivate excellent glocal service talents, raising expectations for future achievements.
Entering the 21st century, Daeshin University faced rapid changes in education and missionary environments due to the progress of the ‘4th Industrial Revolution’ centered on AI and the decrease in the school-age population caused by population decline, requiring corresponding changes.
In this regard, Daeshin University stated that with the desperate mindset of “If you don’t change, you die,” President Choi Dae-hae and the university members united as one to boldly overcome the limitations of the existing mission school and produced results comparable to a ‘second founding.’
As a result of these strenuous efforts, the university laid the foundation for development by being selected as a certified university in the 2024 institutional accreditation evaluation and is quietly preparing for the next 100 years through the establishment of new departments and other future-oriented initiatives.
President Choi Dae-hae of Daeshin University said, “Receiving certification in the ‘2024 Education Internationalization Competency Certification System’ was possible thanks to God’s grace and the wholehearted efforts of our university members,” adding, “Our university, which celebrated its 70th anniversary last year, has overcome many trials and hardships in the past with God’s protection and has come to the present. The environment we will face in the future will not be easy either. However, under faithful faith in God and God’s care, our university will grow into a solid Christian educational institution worthy of its history through reforms and changes that faithfully meet the needs of future education.”
