Easily File Local Income Tax and Resident Tax via Smartphone
On the 7th, Seosan City in Chungnam Province announced that it will operate a "Local Tax KakaoTalk Reporting Window" through the Tax Administration Division's KakaoTalk channel starting this year, in order to expand non-face-to-face tax services and enhance taxpayer convenience.
Until now, taxpayers had to visit city hall or financial institutions in person, or use mail or fax to report local income tax and resident tax.
The existing reporting methods caused inconvenience to citizens due to delays in receiving payment notices and processing times. To address this, the city has launched the new KakaoTalk reporting window.
Citizens who wish to report local income tax?such as capital gains, comprehensive income, and special collection portions?can simply fill out the report form, take a photo with their smartphone, and send it to the Seosan City Tax Administration Division's KakaoTalk channel chat window.
Additionally, the annual business place resident tax, reported every August, will also be available for reporting through the Tax Administration Division's KakaoTalk channel in the same manner.
After confirming the report form sent via the chat window, the city will immediately send the taxpayer a payment notice or a virtual account and electronic payment number.
Anyone can use the reporting service via the KakaoTalk channel, and a responsible public official will be available to check submissions at all times during weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cho Chunghui, head of the city's Tax Administration Division, stated, "With the introduction of this service to enhance taxpayer convenience, we will take the lead in proactive administration," and added, "We will continue to do our best to provide tax administration that puts citizens first."
