"Public Corruption Investigation Office Attempts Illegal Arrest Without Investigation Authority"
"Lee Jae-myung and Democratic Party Are Severe Impeachment Patients"
"Excluding Treason? Is Impeachment Child's Play?"
Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party and its leader Lee Jae-myung as "impeachment addicts" and claimed that they committed acts of rebellion.
On the 7th, Yoon opened his remarks on his social media account by saying, "We have blocked the illegal arrest by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO). The Democratic Party is flustered, and the CIO is in disarray." He added, "The CIO says it will extend the arrest warrant period," and stated, "It is an illegal arrest attempt by the CIO, which does not have the authority to investigate treason. If they try to arrest again, we must arrest them."
He continued, "Lee Jae-myung threatens to impeach Choi Sang-mok, the acting head, for not ordering the Security Office to cooperate in arresting President Yoon Seok-youl. If they want to do it, let them do it," and criticized, "Now the entire nation knows the true nature of Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party’s impeachment addiction. They are severe patients who cannot live a single day without impeachment." He added, "They inserted and then removed the reason for impeachment related to President Yoon’s diplomatic policy of strengthening Korea-US-Japan cooperation, and now they say they will remove treason as well. Is impeachment a child’s game?" He further said, "Then the impeachment of Acting President Han Deok-su on charges of conspiring treason is null and void. They arbitrarily decided the quorum for the Han Deok-su impeachment resolution."
Yoon said, "The Democratic Party is controlling the legislative, executive, and judicial branches as they please. They are destroying the Republic of Korea to save their father, Lee Jae-myung," and raised his voice, "They removed President Yoon to make Lee Jae-myung president. Isn’t this effectively rebellion?" He also emphasized, "Everything in the world has a price to pay," and "The entire nation must unite to stop their acts of rebellion. If we join forces, we can stop them."
On the 6th, in front of the presidential residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, along with other party members, expressed their stance on the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol, following the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Department's official letter stating that the execution of the arrest warrant for President Yoon would be entrusted to the police. Meanwhile, on the 6th, about 40 ruling party lawmakers, including Yoon, gathered in front of the official residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, expressing their determination to block the CIO’s arrest. At the time, lawmaker Kim Ki-hyun claimed, "The CIO has neither the authority to investigate the president nor the authority to execute an arrest warrant. The illegal warrant is essentially invalid." Lawmaker Na Kyung-won also stated, "The Democratic Party deleted treason from the impeachment motion at this late stage and impeached through inciting rebellion, causing this confusion," and added, "It is a very important time to ensure that all procedures are carried out according to the law and to uphold the rule of law, rather than rushing to finish everything quickly." On that day, President Yoon’s side filed complaints against 11 people involved in the arrest attempt, including Oh Dong-woon, head of the CIO, Lee Ho-young, deputy commissioner of the National Police Agency, and Kim Seon-ho, deputy minister of the Ministry of National Defense.
