30 Customers Experience Vomiting Symptoms at Bucheon Restaurant
At a restaurant in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, an epidemiological investigation is underway after customers showed symptoms of vomiting or abdominal pain, and it has been revealed that similar symptoms were reported two days before the incident.
According to Yonhap News on the 7th, around 1 p.m. the previous day, a woman estimated to be in her 50s to 60s vomited while eating lunch specials such as Vietnamese spring rolls and beef shabu-shabu at a restaurant in Bucheon. Shortly after, a group of customers at a nearby table also complained of abdominal pain. The fire department received the first 119 emergency call at 1:44 p.m. that day, requested joint police response, and dispatched personnel to the scene, transporting some of the patients.
However, after news of the mass vomiting was reported in the media, three additional people who had eaten the same menu on the 4th reported experiencing abdominal pain. As a result, the number of people who reported vomiting or abdominal pain symptoms at the restaurant increased to 30, including 3 customers on the 4th and 27 customers on the 6th.
The Bucheon City Public Health Center collected 58 samples, including 24 human specimens, 7 environmental specimens, and 27 food samples, and requested testing from the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment. Bucheon City plans to impose a one-month business suspension on the restaurant if the prepared and served food is confirmed as the cause of the mass vomiting.
Meanwhile, Bucheon City is continuing to monitor patients and is focusing on identifying the exact cause of the incident by collecting additional human specimens.
