[Weather] Heavy Snow in Gwangju and Jeonnam Until the 10th... Up to 20cm Expected Most areas in Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to receive 5 to 15 cm of snowfall by the 9th, with some places forecasted to have more than 20 cm of heavy snow. Photo by Song Bohyun

Most areas in Gwangju and Jeonnam are under heavy snow advisories, with strong and heavy snowfall expected at a rate of 1 to 3 cm per hour.


According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 7th, the expected snowfall from today until the 10th is 5 to 15 cm, with some areas receiving more than 20 cm. The expected precipitation is around 5 to 15 mm.


The morning's lowest temperatures are forecast to be -4°C in Gokseong, -3°C in Jangseong, Damyang, Gurye, Hwasun, Naju, and Boseong, -2°C in Yeonggwang, Yeongam, Jangheung, and Suncheon, -1°C in Gwangju, Hampyeong, Gangjin, Goheung, and Gwangyang, 0°C in Shinan, Muan, and Haenam, 1°C in Mokpo and Yeosu, and 2°C in Jindo and Wando.


The day's highest temperatures are expected to be 7°C in Shinan, Jangheung, Haenam, Gangjin, Jindo, Goheung, Gwangyang, and Yeosu, 6°C in Muan, Yeongam, and Suncheon, 5°C in Gwangju, Hampyeong, Naju, Hwasun, Gurye, and Boseong, and 4°C in Yeonggwang, Jangseong, Damyang, and Gokseong, showing a similar distribution to the previous day.


Waves on the sea will be 1 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea and 1 to 2 meters in the South Sea. Fine dust levels in both Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to remain at a 'good' level.


An official from the Meteorological Administration said, "In areas where snow is falling, vehicles must reduce speed, and special attention should be paid to prevent damage to facilities such as livestock barns, greenhouses, and weak structures."
