Yangpyeong-gun, Fire Vulnerable Area Infrastructure Development Project... Rapid Fire Suppression

Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jin-seon) announced on the 7th that it quickly extinguished recent fires through the fire-vulnerable area infrastructure construction project. This served as an opportunity to once again demonstrate the necessity and effectiveness of establishing a fire safety network.

At the end of last December, fires broke out at a Jesil in Deoksu-ri, Danwol-myeon, and a house in Myeongdal-ri, Seojong-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun. Both areas are fire-vulnerable regions where supplying firefighting water is difficult, and if the flames spread, it could have led to a large-scale fire. However, thanks to Yangpyeong-gun’s fire safety network construction project, a prompt response was possible.

Deoksu-ri, Danwol-myeon was the target area of the “Large Fire Extinguisher Distribution Project” conducted in July last year for the outskirts of Yangpyeong-gun’s urban area, and Myeongdal-ri, Seojong-myeon was the target area of the “No. 1 Yangpyeong-type Fire Hydrant Installation Project” carried out at the same time. Through these fire-vulnerable area infrastructure construction projects in Yangpyeong-gun, village chiefs and residents in Deoksu-ri, Danwol-myeon were able to respond initially to the fire using 20kg large fire extinguishers, and in Myeongdal-ri, Seojong-myeon, the “Yangpyeong-type Fire Hydrant” was utilized to quickly secure ten firefighting water units for initial extinguishing.

Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, stated, “This fire incident is a case that shows the actual effectiveness of Yangpyeong-gun’s fire safety network construction project and reconfirms the importance of the fire safety network construction project. Our county will continue to expand the distribution of large fire extinguishers and Yangpyeong-type fire hydrants in 2025, and through this, we will do our best to strengthen fire safety infrastructure and response systems to create an environment where all residents can live safely.”
