The Didim Seed Savings Account is a program where the government matches the amount saved by children at a ratio of 1 to 2. The savings can be used for children’s asset formation support projects such as tuition fees after the age of 18, startup support, technical qualifications and employment training, and housing costs.
This year’s eligible applicants are children aged 0 to 17 under protection, recipients of basic livelihood security, and the near-poor class, with the near-poor class becoming eligible for support starting this year.
Gwangju City has secured 1.4 billion KRW in national and provincial funds to support about 2,330 people for the smooth implementation of the project. Applications can be made by visiting the local administrative welfare center or online through ‘Bokjiro’.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “Children are the leaders of future generations and have the right to live with dignity and security. We will spare no administrative effort from support to follow-up management so that the eligible children can maintain a stable life even after becoming independent through this project.”
