Expansion of School Survival Swimming Support Targets
Abolition of Self-Payment for Art Hall Linked Cultural Experience Admission Fees

The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 7th that it will expand the support targets for school survival swimming and abolish the self-pay portion of cultural experience admission fees linked with Guri Art Hall to revitalize the Future Education Cooperation District project operated in collaboration with the Gyeonggi-do Guri Namyangju Office of Education.

The city plans to secure the protection of life and safety in daily life for more local students by additionally supporting alternative schools within the district from this year, in addition to the survival swimming education previously supported for 16 elementary schools in the district.

In addition, the city will abolish the policy requiring students to pay part of the admission fee when supporting cultural experience admission fees linked with Guri Art Hall, thereby expanding students' opportunities to participate in culture and reducing administrative burdens on schools.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, “The revitalization measures for the Guri Future Education Cooperation District project are the result of continuous communication among Guri City, related organizations, school principals, and parents,” adding, “We will do our best to make Guri a city good for raising children and full of children's laughter.”

Meanwhile, since being designated as a Future Education Cooperation District (formerly Innovation Education District) in 2010, Guri City has been striving for 14 years to support public education and foster creative talents. It operates programs for local elementary, middle, and high school students such as △Guri Future School △Guri Colorful School △Mathematics and Science Creative Classroom △Art Hall-linked Experiences △Student Survival Swimming.
