The vulnerable worker legal aid, implemented by Guri City from August 2024 with national funding support from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, is a project that provides free legal services by certified labor attorneys to vulnerable workers who feel burdened by labor consultations through an agreement with a professional labor law firm.

From August to December last year, Guri City provided legal aid for a total of 27 cases, including 3 cases of unfair dismissal and 14 cases of wage arrears, contributing to the enhancement of labor rights for vulnerable groups in the region.

One worker who resolved wage arrears through this project support said, “Even though I suffered from wage arrears, I only worried because I did not know how to solve it, but thanks to the free legal consultation provided by Guri City, I was able to resolve it quickly, and I am sincerely grateful.”

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri City stated, “We will continue to provide ongoing legal consultation services through the Guri City Workers’ Comprehensive Support Center, while also establishing a system to protect the rights of vulnerable workers in the mid to long term. We plan to promote various policies so that workers can receive help with various legal issues they face in the workplace.”
