On the 6th (local time), he announced on his social media that "I will not be able to participate in the PGA Tour American Express, which opens on the 16th in California, USA," and added, "My goal is to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which starts on the 30th."

Scheffler injured the palm of his right hand at the end of last December due to broken glass shards while cooking. He was unable to compete in the PGA Tour 2025 season opener, The Sentry, which ended on the 6th. He underwent surgery to remove glass shards from his right palm and is focusing on treatment. He plans to skip the Sony Open, American Express, and Farmers Insurance Open.

Scheffler won seven times on the PGA Tour last year. He solidified his position as the world's top male golfer by winning the Masters, known as the "Tournament of Champions," and earning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics last year. He also had his best year by winning the Hero World Challenge, an event hosted by "Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods (USA), last month. He received the Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the PGA Tour Player of the Year, for the third consecutive year.
