Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do), Department of Automotive Engineering (Department Head Kang Dong-kwon), announced on the 7th that student Heo Jeong-gap won the grand prize in the 2024 Academic Degree Major Deepening Course Success Stories and Essay Contest.
Sponsored by the Korea Council for College Education and organized by the Academic Degree Major Deepening Course Operation Council, this contest was held to raise awareness of the importance of the academic degree major deepening course.
Heo Jeong-gap, who won the grand prize in this contest, sincerely shared his story of choosing the academic degree major deepening course while working as the representative of Samho Repair Car Center under the theme "Adding the Major Deepening Course to On-site Practical Work."
Heo Jeong-gap from the Department of Automotive Engineering said, “I believe it is thanks to the strong support from my family and the guidance from my professors that I could continue my studies despite my late age,” and added, “Through theory and practice linked to automotive maintenance work, I was able to obtain the painting certification and the master automotive mechanic certification, achieving good results.”
Professor Lee Jong-ho from the Department of Electric Vehicles, who supervised him, said, “Through the academic degree major deepening course aimed at training professional technicians, students are employed annually in maintenance positions at Hyundai and Kia Motors service centers. We will strive to nurture excellent talents who satisfy students and meet societal demands.”
Established in 1995, the Department of Electric Vehicles at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has trained over 5,000 automotive professionals to date and actively carries out various workforce development projects such as the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘Work-Learning Dual System at the Student Stage,’ ‘Cheonghaejin University Project,’ and ‘Busan Metropolitan City BB21+ Eco-friendly Vehicle Workforce Development Project.’
