Kim Dong-yeon: "People Power's Shielding of Insurrection Leaders, Demanding Suspension of Arrest Warrants... Are They in Their Right Mind?"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon urged the People Power Party's 40 or so lawmakers who are defending the ringleader of the rebellion and the party-affiliated provincial governors who are calling for the suspension of arrest warrants to "please return to normal."

On the 7th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "Has the People Power Party given up being a conservative party?" He lamented, "About 40 People Power Party lawmakers stood in front of the presidential residence to shield the ringleader of the rebellion. Provincial governors affiliated with the party are even demanding the suspension of arrest warrants and the re-deliberation of impeachment motions."

He continued, "The president is involved in rebellion! The ruling party is shielding the rebellion! Will the whole world see the Republic of Korea as a normal country?" He expressed concern that "a developed country that achieved industrialization and democratization simultaneously is being reduced to a 'country of concern' worried about its sovereign credit rating and a 'backward country' where the rule of law has collapsed."

Furthermore, he asked, "Where have the core conservative values of market economy and the rule of law gone?" and urged, "What the People Power Party must protect is not the ringleader of the rebellion but the values of conservatism. Please, return to normal."
