Yoo Seung-min: "People Power Party Will Collapse If It Keeps Defending the President"

"Reflect, Apologize, and Find the Path of Conservatism"

Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min warned the party members who went to President Yoon Seok-yeol's residence in Hannam-dong, Seoul, to prevent the execution of the arrest warrant, saying, "What is wrong with executing an arrest warrant against a president accused of insurrection?" and added, "At this rate, our party could collapse."

On the 7th, Yoo said on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "If the investigative authority of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) is wrong, then go to the CIO; if the grounds for impeachment by the Constitutional Court are wrong, then go to the Constitutional Court," and criticized, "But going to the residence to protect the president?are you trying to protect a criminal who is currently violating the constitution?"

Yoo Seung-min: "People Power Party Will Collapse If It Keeps Defending the President" On the 6th, in front of the presidential residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, along with other party members, expressed their stance on the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol, following the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Department's official letter delegating the execution of the arrest warrant to the police. He referred to a poll showing President Yoon's approval rating at 40%, saying, "It seems the approval rating is high because among conservative voters, there is a sentiment that Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, must be prevented from easily taking power," and pointed out, "We must not mistakenly think this is because they support President Yoon, the People Power Party, or martial law."

He then explained, "There are two paths our party can take: one is to continue as we are now, and the other is to reflect, apologize, and find the path of conservatism." He added, "If the People Power Party continues to defend President Yoon as it does now and only focuses on his support base, it will not gain support from the majority of the people, and conservatism will collapse," warning, "In the future, we will lose every presidential, general, and local election."

Meanwhile, the poll Yoo mentioned was conducted by Asia Today, commissioned to the Korea Public Opinion Research Institute, surveying 1,000 men and women aged 18 and over nationwide on the 3rd and 4th (95% confidence level, margin of error ±3.1 percentage points, response rate 4.7%; for detailed information, refer to the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website). In this survey, President Yoon's approval rating was recorded at 40% (31% strongly approve, 9% somewhat approve). On the other hand, respondents who said they "do not approve at all" (56%) or "somewhat disapprove" (4%) totaled 60%.
