Musical Actor Michael Lee Appointed as Save the Children Ambassador

The international child rights NGO Save the Children announced on the 7th that musical actor Michael Lee has been appointed as its ambassador.

Save the Children held an appointment ceremony the previous day at its headquarters located in Mapo-gu, Seoul, where it presented Michael Lee with a certificate of appointment and ambassador business cards. Michael Lee is expected to participate in various activities of Save the Children aimed at protecting children's rights and driving change.

Michael Lee debuted in 1995 and has appeared in various musical productions such as "Miss Saigon," "Jesus Christ Superstar," and "Notre-Dame de Paris," gaining popularity both on Broadway and in Korea. He said, “Efforts from the government, society, and individuals are needed to save children, but the priority must be the rights of the children. Change must start from me, from you,” adding, “I will do my best as an ambassador for Save the Children to initiate that change.”

Oh Jun, chairman of Save the Children, said, “Michael Lee, who appeared in the globally beloved musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar,' said he sings with a heart that questions why children suffer when seeing wars happening around the world,” and added, “I think his empathy for the pain of innocent children and refusal to remain silent at their cries created this good connection with Save the Children today.” He continued, “We look forward to Ambassador Michael Lee, who has connected hearts through music on stage, representing the voices of children together with Save the Children in the future.”
