Gyeonggi Province is conducting a public contest for city and county cultural projects commemorating the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day until the 24th of this month.
This contest, which supports cultural and artistic projects at the city and county level to promote the history of the independence movement and the significance of liberation centered on local communities in Gyeonggi Province, is fully funded by the provincial government. A total budget of 1.036 billion KRW will be provided this year, and approximately 20 city and county projects will be selected.
The contest projects will be conducted in four categories: ▲Commemoration and Memorial ▲Art and Creation ▲Education and Experience ▲Digital and Documentation.
The focus is on commemorating the historical value and passing it on to future generations by producing stories of liberation and the independence movement in various forms such as cultural and artistic works, educational programs, and digital content.
Interested cities and counties must submit their project plans to Gyeonggi Province by the 24th of this month. Gyeonggi Province will conduct document screening and, if necessary, face-to-face evaluations to finalize the supported projects by February.
This project is expected to contribute to raising the overall historical value of Gyeonggi Province by informing local communities and future generations about the history of liberation and by fostering creative projects that reflect the independence movement history and culture of each city and county.
Oh Gwang-seok, Director of the Cultural Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day in 2025, we hope this contest will serve as a meaningful opportunity to newly highlight the historical value of local areas and to inherit the spirit of the independence movement through culture and the arts."
