"Yoon's Refusal to Comply with Arrest Warrant Is Wrong, but Police Should Not Be Harmed"
Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min pointed to Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea's lust for power as the background behind the series of political turmoil following the declaration of martial law. Yoo argued that the controversy should not be used as a pretext and that President Yoon's impeachment and investigation should be conducted in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
On the 6th, Yoo criticized through social media (SNS), saying, "Representative Lee is already acting arrogantly as if he is already the president."
Earlier, regarding the Security Office that obstructed the execution of the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol, Lee expressed his intention to hold those responsible accountable, calling it a 'second rebellion' and other terms, criticizing Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok, who is acting as the presidential authority, for not taking related measures.
He criticized, "Is Representative Lee planning to impeach Acting Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok just as he impeached Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo?" and added, "In Lee's eyes, neither national stability, the economy, nor security is visible; all he sees is holding a presidential impeachment and early election before his own trial."
Former lawmaker Yoo said, "It is wrong for the president to refuse investigation and arrest warrants, but the arrest warrant should be executed without any unfortunate incidents involving protesters or police," adding, "Since there are disputes over the legality of the investigative authority and the arrest warrant, these issues should be resolved and handled without controversy." Previously, President Yoon's legal team had raised issues regarding the investigative authority of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit and the legality of the warrant.
Yoo criticized, "Representative Lee, who is a suspect in numerous crimes, is obsessed with impatience and lust for power, even threatening Acting Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok, which will worsen political instability in the already unstable current political situation, leading to crises in the economy and security and a decline in national credibility," and asked, "If Lee removes acting authorities one by one just because things do not go his way, is he trying to create a Lee Jae-myung dictatorship?"
He continued, "The Constitutional Court excluded 'rebellion,' the essence of this situation, from the grounds for impeachment, and issues such as the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit conducting investigations without investigative authority must be corrected first. Everything must be handled in accordance with the Constitution and the law for the majority of the people to accept the outcome," he urged.
