Gyeongnam Jeongbo University Receives 'Best' Rating for Local Government-University Collaboration in Advanced Vocational Education Hub Project

Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Tae-sang) received the highest rating in the comprehensive evaluation of the Higher Vocational Education Hub District Project, a collaborative project between local governments and universities.

On the 6th, Gyeongnam Information University announced that the Higher Vocational Education Hub District Project (HiVE Type 1), promoted in cooperation with Sasang-gu, Busan, received an A grade in the three-year comprehensive evaluation.

The comprehensive evaluation of the HiVE project is conducted by the National Research Foundation of Korea, which evaluates 50 consortia across five regions based on overall performance and achievement indicators from 2022 to 2024 through written and face-to-face assessments, finalizing grades from A to C according to the total score.

Over the past three years, Gyeongnam Information University formed a consortium with Sasang-gu and carried out various activities aimed at "completing a leading regional education hub district that coexists with the local community." They established governance in the fields of smart industrial cities and eco-friendly ecological and welfare cities, developing and operating customized curricula and focusing on nurturing local resident-type talent.

Sasang-gu provided administrative and financial support such as enacting ordinances linked to youth policies and supporting corresponding investment funds, receiving high marks for organic cooperation among universities to improve local talent retention conditions and solve regional issues.

The university evaluated that the HiVE project produced results through close cooperation with basic local governments. In 2025, this project is planned to be selected as an excellent case securing sustainability of outcomes in the Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE) and shared with RISE officers nationwide by city and province.

President Kim Tae-sang emphasized, "This project was recognized as a model case where universities and basic local governments established joint goals and successfully carried out the project through a cooperative relationship," adding, "Based on the RISE system, we will faithfully fulfill our role as a community university that grows together with the region."
