On the 6th, Gwangjeok-myeon, Yangju City (Chief Song Su-jin) announced that it received a total of 89.21 million KRW in donations, including 38.38 million KRW in cash from last year's Onpum Campaign and sponsorship goods valued at 50.83 million KRW.
This amount represents a 22% increase compared to the total donations of 69.6 million KRW in 2022. The myeon attributes this growth to various activities aimed at spreading and encouraging a proper donation culture within the community, such as promoting the 2024 Gwangjeok-myeon Community Security Council Onpum (Embracing Warm Hearts) Campaign, creating donation status boards, distributing promotional materials, and posting promotional banners.
In response, the donation line from various sectors?including members of the village chiefs’ association and the women's association in Gwangjeok-myeon, residents silently leaving small amounts of cash, and local companies?has continued endlessly.
Furthermore, the myeon carefully delivered the warm hearts of the sponsors to lonely and marginalized neighbors.
Last year, the myeon, through various events such as delivering young radish kimchi, kimchi for kimjang, Yakult, lunch boxes, and sponsorship goods, providing blanket laundry services, and delivering holiday gifts, not only conveyed hope and love but also regularly checked on neighbors and connected them with welfare services, practicing neighborly love together with the residents.
Song Su-jin, Chief of Gwangjeok-myeon, stated, “Thanks to the warm hearts of residents and businesses in the area, many people were able to spend their time warmly and happily,” and added, “We hope your interest and sharing will continue into 2025.”
