On the 6th, Hanam Mayor Lee Hyun-jae said at the New Year's press conference, "2025 will be a year to establish a stable growth foundation to make Hanam the best city to live in the metropolitan area."
Mayor Lee added, "We will invest the resources secured through major development projects and business attraction activation into education, welfare, and social infrastructure expansion to further improve the quality of life for citizens."
On this day, Mayor Lee announced the 2024 administrative achievements and the key tasks for 2025.
First, the mayor presented the main core achievements as △strengthening citizen communication systems and administrative capabilities △securing finances and rationalizing regulations through proactive administration △improving traffic safety and convenience △building a cultural leisure city brand image △activating investment attraction and business support.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae said, "Last year, we provided citizen-centered administrative services by resolving 80.5% of complaints received through the operation of the Mobile Mayor's Office and Open Mayor's Office systems, and strengthened public officials' capabilities by benchmarking the frontier leadership of the late Chairman Chung Ju-young during a visit to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan." He introduced, "Based on these efforts, Hanam ranked first nationwide in the 'Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last year, ranked 4th in the metropolitan area for the '2024 Best City to Live (Social Safety Index),' and won a total of 38 awards."
He continued, "We established Hanam-style school zones and promoted the creation of a children's traffic park to establish a traffic safety culture, and improved traffic convenience through the introduction of a semi-public village bus system and shortening the interval of Line 5 trains during rush hours." He also mentioned, "The creation of a total of 15 barefoot walking trails, including the Misa Hangang Sand Road where you can safely walk barefoot while listening to beautiful music and four all-season yellow soil trails that can be walked warmly even in winter, received great responses."
He also cited as an achievement the attraction of various companies by providing various incentives and establishing administrative and financial support grounds such as one-stop civil complaint processing services that shorten administrative procedures.
Mayor Lee explained, "Hanam attracted the Korea Franchise Industry Association last year and designated Sungwon Adpia Co., Ltd., the top printing company in Korea, as the 'No. 1 company for one-stop corporate civil complaint processing,' achieving the great feat of building a new headquarters in Hanam." He added, "We also achieved results by attracting Seohee Construction, Roger Nine Co., Ltd., a golf equipment production and sales company of PXG, BC Card R&D Center, Lotte Medical Foundation Bobath Hospital, and Dow Industrial Development."
However, the mayor pointed out that there are financial pressure factors such as the expected operating deficits of the currently operating Line 5 and the future Line 3, and ongoing lawsuits regarding the LH and Misa waste treatment facility burden charges. He emphasized that attracting corporate investment is essential for Hanam to continuously promote education, welfare, and social infrastructure expansion in the future.
Mayor Lee said, "This year, we plan to reorganize the organization by establishing an investment attraction division and devote ourselves to creating a business-friendly environment by holding large-scale corporate policy briefings." He emphasized, "We will also concentrate all administrative power to successfully complete the Camp Colburn urban development project, which is aimed to establish an SPC (Special Purpose Corporation) in the second half of this year, as well as the K-Star World development project preparing for a private business contest in the second half, and the Gyosan New Town development project, which plans to establish selection criteria for recommended companies for self-sufficient facility sites."
Furthermore, for convenient transportation, he announced plans to actively pursue △implementation of a public bus garage service in the western area △construction of Hakam 1 Bridge (targeted for the first half of 2025) △creation of a pedestrian passage connecting Misa Hangang Park and Hangang walking trail (targeted for completion in 2025) △opening of Gam-il Bangadari-gil connecting road (targeted for the first half of 2025) △prompt extension of subway Lines 9 and 3 to Hanam △active consultation with related agencies for the extension of Wirye Sinsa Line to Hanam △promotion of inclusion of GTX-D and F in the national railway network plan.
Mayor Lee also expressed his intention to continue implementing cultural and artistic projects that played a significant role in building the cultural arts city brand, including 'Music 人 The Hanam,' which was confirmed to have a 99.3% satisfaction rate in last year's project satisfaction survey.
Along with this, he announced plans to steadily promote regional living infrastructure facilities such as △Deokpung Sports Culture Center (opening in January 2025) △Gam-il Complex Community Center (completion targeted for the first half of 2025) △Misa 3-dong Public Complex Office (opening in the second half of 2025) △Wirye Complex Sports Facility (targeted for completion in December 2025).
For expanding welfare by household, he stated plans to actively pursue △strengthening support for pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare (support for reproductive cell freezing, expansion of five Dahamkke Care Centers, expansion of morning care projects from 4 to 6 centers) △expanding youth employment mentoring and youth club support, revitalizing cultural exchanges with sister city youth △providing up to 160,000 KRW annually for transportation expenses for seniors (70 years and older) using village and city buses passing through the district △increasing the veterans' honor allowance from 150,000 KRW to 170,000 KRW.
Finally, Mayor Lee said, "Based on the competitiveness accumulated over the past two years, Hanam will overcome internal and external challenges this year and concretely realize the goal of 'Leaping Hanam.'" He expressed deep gratitude to journalists and citizens who have continuously shown interest and support for the city's development and asked for unwavering support and cooperation in the new year as well.
