National Changwon University announced that it received 1,988 applications for the 2025 regular admissions, which is recruiting 429 students, achieving the highest competition rate among four-year universities in the Gyeongnam region.
The competition rate for this regular admission was 4.63 to 1 (5.12 to 1 within the quota), higher than last year's 3.71 to 1.
By admission type, the rates were ▲Group A general admission 5.37 to 1 ▲Group C general admission 5.30 to 1 ▲Group C practical/performance admission 5.59 to 1.
Newly established units for the 2025 academic year, such as the Sarim Honors Department, the autonomous major departments by field (Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Engineering), and the Glocal Advanced Science and Technology College (GAST) affiliated recruitment units, also showed mostly high competition rates.
The Changwon University Admissions and Employment Headquarters stated, “The competition rate for this regular admission increased by nearly 1 point compared to the previous year, ranking first among four-year universities in the Gyeongnam region and high within the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam area,” adding, “This appears to be the result of momentum gained from the Glocal University Project and the university’s full-scale transformation projects.”
They also said, “Beyond being recognized as a representative case of overcoming the crisis caused by the declining school-age population, we will do our best to become a world-class university that nurtures the best talents.”
Since the inauguration of the 9th President Park Minwon, the first president who graduated from Changwon University, on February 26 last year, Changwon University was finally selected as a Glocal University by the Ministry of Education for 2024 and applied for financial support totaling 691.7 billion KRW over five years.
It has also been selected for major national projects such as the G-LAMP (LAMP) project, the National University Development Project with an S grade, Arena Plex Changwon, and Software-Centered University, earning recognition as the only national university in the country to achieve a grand slam.
The admission results for Changwon University’s 2025 regular admissions for both Group A and Group C can be checked on the university website on February 7, and successful applicants can register from February 10 to February 12.
