Na Kyung-won: "Democratic Party, National Civil Rebellion Fraud... Must Apologize and Revote"

"Except for Treason, Absurd Arguments to Mislead"
"Boldly Accept the Constitutional Court's Decision"

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the exclusion of the charge of rebellion from the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol as a "deceptive sophistry."

On the 5th, Na posted on her social media account, "The Democratic Party is committing a national rebellion fraud." She explained, "The charge of rebellion is practically the entire basis for this impeachment. After the lifting of martial law, the media was all covered with the tremendous charge of rebellion, and some pro-opposition media even named the December 3 emergency martial law incident not as the December 3 emergency martial law incident but as the December 3 rebellion incident." She added, "Many military personnel and police officers, including the Minister of National Defense and the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, were arrested on charges of rebellion," and "Ruling party lawmakers, including myself, were also accused of inciting rebellion."

Na directed her remarks at the Democratic Party, saying, "The country that stirred up rebellion so much now wants to exclude the charge of rebellion," and argued, "While all acts of rebellion remain as grounds for impeachment, excluding the charge of rebellion itself is deceptive sophistry." She continued, "If all acts of rebellion remain as grounds for impeachment, then naturally the validity of the charge of rebellion should be examined," adding, "There is a huge difference in the degree of constitutional violation between simple violation of the Martial Law Act and the charge of rebellion, so shouldn't that be done?"

Furthermore, she raised her voice, saying, "The opposition party should stop making lame excuses for excluding the charge of rebellion for Lee Jae-myung's sake, apologize for inciting rebellion so far, and reapprove the impeachment motion." Finally, she emphasized, "If not, keep the charge of rebellion as a ground for impeachment and boldly accept the Constitutional Court's decision."

Earlier, the National Assembly impeachment committee decided on the 3rd to withdraw the charge of rebellion from the impeachment grounds against President Yoon. In response, the People Power Party criticized the withdrawal of the charge of rebellion and argued that a reapproval procedure in the National Assembly is necessary. Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader, pointed out at a party meeting, "The charge of rebellion is the alpha and omega of the presidential impeachment motion," and said, "Excluding the core from the grounds for impeachment is not a steamed bun without filling but a steamed bun without the bun." Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon also criticized, "It is a political calculation to hasten the path to becoming president by advancing the impeachment before the verdict in Lee Jae-myung's trial comes out." On the 6th, Floor Leader Kwon, senior lawmakers with four or more terms from the People Power Party, and members of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee plan to visit the Constitutional Court to demand a suspension of the impeachment review.
