'2025 Korea Night Industry Expo' to Be Held Until the 20th
Gongju City in Chungnam Province announced on the 6th that the "Winter Gongju Gunbam Festival" will be held for five days from the 16th to the 20th at the Geumgang Singwan Park area. The Gunbam Festival was awarded the Korea Representative Brand Grand Prize last year.
This year, the festival will feature 10 large fire pits where visitors can roast chestnuts, and the number of grill zones for grilling sausages, skewers, and other foods will be increased from 15 to 20.
There will also be a variety of hands-on programs such as making snacks and crafts using chestnuts, kite flying, Jegichagi, and Tuho throwing.
Additionally, a new sledding area will be operated for children visiting during the winter vacation. After enjoying hot roasted chestnuts, visitors can fully experience the winter atmosphere by riding sleds and spinning sleds.
During the festival, the city will also host the "2025 Korea Chestnut Industry Expo" to further develop Gongju as the mecca of Korea's chestnut industry.
The expo venue will include a forestry machinery and equipment exhibition hall, a chestnut honey industry hall, a corporate hall, a chestnut shell hall, a global network (Japan, Europe, USA), a chestnut lounge, a local hall, and an information center.
The expo will promote representative varieties and processed products from major domestic chestnut-producing regions, as well as chestnut-based corporate products. Outdoor exhibition areas will showcase equipment for chestnut production, processing, and pest control.
In addition, there will be a national chestnut dessert cooking contest, the Gongju Chestnut Cocktail Show, and a Chestnut Beauty Face Art Show. Side events will include an international forum and export consultation meetings.
Mayor Choi Woncheol said, "This Winter Gongju Gunbam Festival and Chestnut Industry Expo are important opportunities to promote Gongju chestnuts," adding, "Through this festival, Gongju will solidify its status as a cultural tourism destination and as a leading city in the chestnut industry."
