"Member of the National Assembly, a Position to Serve the People"
"Yoon, Needs a Confident Attitude to Take Responsibility"

About 30 members of the People Power Party gathered in front of the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, prompting People Power Party lawmaker Cho Kyung-tae to criticize, "Do they even have the qualifications to be members of the National Assembly?"

On the 6th, Cho appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and said, "Members of the National Assembly should strive and serve for the safety, human rights, welfare, and freedom of the people," adding, "If they are members of the National Assembly for the president, to protect the president, what would the constituents say?"

Earlier, on the morning of the same day at 6 a.m., when the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol expired, People Power Party lawmakers gathered in front of the presidential residence in Hannam-dong. Their purpose was to prevent the execution of the arrest warrant issued by the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office (PCC) against President Yoon.

Regarding this, Cho said, "The president is not a king. The president is merely a person entrusted with authority by the people for five years," adding, "Ultimately, in a democratic country, the sovereign owner is not the president but the people, and it is natural to protect and work for the people who are the owners. This natural principle is now being broken within the People Power Party. It is regrettable."

Concerning reports that the party leadership is discussing changing the investigative body from the PCC to the police and having President Yoon be questioned at a third location such as a private residence in Samcheong-dong, Cho pointed out, "I don't know how it would appear to the sovereign people to have investigations conducted here and there according to their own preferences."

Cho emphasized, "The law must be equal to all," and said, "I don't know where the president's promise to respond to the investigation confidently has gone," adding, "Didn't he say in several public addresses that he would take responsibility without hiding anything? He should face the investigation with a confident attitude."

Furthermore, Cho said, "Citizens are staying awake all night in front of the Hannam-dong residence, and many soldiers and police officers are being detained in unfortunate circumstances," adding, "If this stems from the president's unconstitutional and illegal emergency martial law, then the president needs to take responsibility with a confident attitude."
