Dongjak-gu Secures 51.3 Billion KRW in Special Local Tax and Special Grants Resources

Momentum Gained in Advancing Local Issue Projects

Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 6th that it will concentrate its total secured budget of 51.3 billion KRW, obtained through the second half of last year’s special grants (Ministry of the Interior and Safety), special adjustment grants (Seoul City), and the 2025 Seoul City budget allocation, on local priority projects.

Of the special grants, 3.3 billion KRW will be invested in projects to expand cultural infrastructure and improve facilities for residents. Ten billion KRW each will be allocated to the construction of the Hyeonchung Park Space Science Observatory and the creation of the Seodalsan Dongjak Skywalk Observatory to promote tourist attractions. Additionally, 600 million KRW each will be used for the repair and reinforcement of the overpass in front of Hanguk Naengjang and the refurbishment of the aging public Yaksu Library facilities.


Special adjustment grants amounting to 1.9 billion KRW will be used to accelerate priority projects, including 1.1 billion KRW for the construction of the new district office building, which will serve as a signal for creating a hot place in Dongjak-gu, 310 million KRW for the maintenance of deteriorated children’s parks, and 400 million KRW for replacing sewer manholes and installing fall-prevention safety facilities.


Furthermore, the district expects to gain momentum in related project implementation by reflecting 46.1 billion KRW for key and priority projects in this year’s Seoul City budget. Major projects include the construction of an indoor badminton court at Hyeonchung Neighborhood Park (2.594 billion KRW), the establishment of the Sadang-dong Life Culture Center (613 million KRW), the creation of a public parking lot in Daebang-dong (570 million KRW), the basic planning service for the Heukseok Green Road (200 million KRW), and the redevelopment project of the Sayuksin History Park (100 million KRW).


Mayor Park Il-ha stated, “With this external funding secured, we can take care of various projects for residents as well as local priority issues,” adding, “We will continue to diligently seek funding to ensure smooth project implementation.”
