Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that, following the end of the mourning period for the victims of the Jeju Air disaster, regional joint memorial altars at Muan Airport, Jeollanam-do Provincial Government, and other locations will continue to operate until mid-February, and five crematoriums in Mokpo, Yeosu, and other areas will also operate 24 hours a day.

Jeollanam-do decided to continue operating the regional joint memorial altars until mid-February, even after the official mourning period ends on the 4th. The extended memorial altars include three locations: Muan Airport, Muan Sports Park, and Jeollanam-do Provincial Government. In addition, cities and counties such as Mokpo, Yeosu, Naju, Gwangyang, Damyang, Hwasun, Haenam, Yeonggwang, and Wando will also autonomously extend the operation of their memorial altars.

Furthermore, the operating hours of five crematoriums in Mokpo, Yeosu, Suncheon, Gwangyang, and Haenam have been extended to 24 hours. This measure was taken based on the assessment that the use of cremation facilities would be concentrated at one time.

More than 250,000 people have visited memorial altars across the country to pay their respects. So far, about 58,000 mourners have visited the regional joint memorial altars.
