Pukyong National University, Regular Admission Competition Rate 5.61 to 1... Higher Than Last Year

The competition rate for the regular admissions at Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon) for next year slightly increased to 5.61 to 1 compared to last year.

In a rare case among local universities struggling to recruit new students, the university showed a higher competition rate than last year, creating an atmosphere of 'holding steady.' Last year, the competition rate for regular admissions at this university was 5.00 to 1.

Pukyong National University announced on the 4th that 4,481 applicants applied for 799 available spots as of the application deadline on the 3rd.

In this regular admission, the competition rates by group were 4.80 to 1 for Group A, 5.09 to 1 for Group B, and 9.10 to 1 for Group C. The relatively high competition rate in Group C drew attention. A fierce competition was seen with 1,183 applicants for 130 spots in Group C.

In Group A, the Department of Applied Mathematics recorded the highest competition rate with 43 applicants for 5 spots, a ratio of 8.60 to 1. The Department of Korean Language and Literature also showed a competition rate of 7.50 to 1 with 30 applicants for 4 spots.

In Group B, the Department of Law recorded the highest number of applicants with 56 applicants for 6 spots, a competition rate of 9.33 to 1. Additionally, the Division of International Area Studies had 62 applicants for 8 spots, recording a rate of 7.75 to 1.

In Group C, the social sciences category saw the most intense competition within the group, with 109 applicants for 6 spots, resulting in a competition rate of 18.17 to 1.

Pukyong National University will conduct practical exams for the regular admissions on the 13th for the Visual Design major, and on the 14th for the Industrial Design and Marine Sports majors. The final successful candidates will be announced on February 6th through the university’s website.

A university official stated, "The increase in competition rate in the regular admissions reflects the enhanced educational capabilities and recognition," adding, "We plan to expand various programs so that many talented students can apply."
