Lotto and Pension Lottery Winning Numbers All Include 'Number 3'
The number '3' appearing frequently in the first pension lottery (244th draw) of this year has become a hot topic. Previously, in the last week of December, the 1st prize winning numbers of the 1152nd Lotto draw were all in the 30s. At that time, the six 1st prize winning numbers were '30, 31, 32, 35, 36, 37'.
This time, the pension lottery also features a significant number of 3s. According to the Donghaeng Lottery website, the 1st prize winning number for this year's first pension lottery (244th draw) is 5jo033337. The number 3, which symbolizes perfection and the best in the East, was repeated four times, followed by 7, which is considered a lucky number in the West.

The 1st prize winner will receive 7 million won per month for 20 years as an annuity. After tax, the actual amount received is about 5.46 million won per month. The 2nd prize winning number is 033337 in each jo, and winners will receive 1 million won per month for 10 years as an annuity.
With the number 3 repeated several times in the winning numbers of the two lotteries drawn at the end and beginning of the year, and the bonus number and jo number 5 overlapping, various speculations arose online. On far-right communities, conspiracy theories and even claims linking the numbers to the impeachment political situation surfaced. In another post on an online community, a netizen explained that in Chinese number codes, '333' mainly means 'run away, avoid' in games, originating from its homophone with the character for scatter (散, san).
Netizens commented, "Why are there so many 3s? It's amazing," "Looks like the lucky number this week is 3," "Isn't this manipulation at this level?" and "I really received the energy of 3." Meanwhile, Lotto manipulation theories resurface from time to time. In response, Donghaeng Lottery recently took a direct approach to dispel doubts by broadcasting the entire Lotto drawing process live to the public, from preparation to confirmation of winning numbers. At that time, silver medalist Kim Yeji appeared as the 'golden hand'.
In November last year, Donghaeng Lottery also cut a lottery ball in half in front of general observers to reveal its contents. It was confirmed that a wireless identification (RFID) chip was embedded inside. One hundred general observers were invited, selected through a draw from individuals aged 19 or older who had no prior experience attending Lotto or pension lottery draws in the past six months.
