Three male siblings among the quintuplets born at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Seocho-gu, Seoul, were discharged in good health on the 3rd.

According to Yonhap News, the second and third sons among the quintuplets (three boys and two girls) born to the couple Kim Jun-young and Sa Gong Hye-ran were discharged after completing their treatment on this day.

Previously, on September 20th last year, the rare natural pregnancy quintuplets attracted much attention and encouragement worldwide. The first, second, and third sons weighed between 800 and 900g, while the fourth and fifth daughters weighed in the 700g range, far below the typical newborn weight standard (around 3kg), and were treated in incubators.

Although born on the same day, the two sons who were admitted alternately to the neonatal intensive care unit A and B units for prompt medical treatment were separated for about three months, but finally, they are going home together.

Under the devoted care of the medical staff at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital and their parents, the second son Sae-chan reached a weight of 3.394kg, and the third son Sae-gang reached 3.077kg, and they returned home first on this day. Sae-him, Sae-byeol, and Sae-bom are also preparing to be discharged soon.

The quintuplets' mother, Sa Gong Hye-ran, said she cried every day as pregnancy became difficult after 20 weeks. Diagnosed with preeclampsia, a hypertensive disorder associated with pregnancy, she could no longer delay delivery and underwent a cesarean section at 27 weeks.

Although the mother could not fully recover after childbirth, she never missed visiting her babies who were receiving treatment in the hospital and froze breast milk daily to deliver to them. After the first son Sae-him began feeding directly with a bottle, the two brothers also started practicing bottle feeding following their older brother.

Mother Sa Gong expressed her gratitude to Yonhap News, saying, "I woke up bright and early this morning thinking about bringing the babies home today," and added, "Every time I visited the hospitalized babies, the medical staff explained their health status in detail, and when I was mentally struggling due to surgeries or other difficulties, the professors and nurses always hugged me and gave me courage."

Yoon Young-ah, the attending physician and head of the neonatal intensive care unit and professor of pediatrics, said, "Neonatal intensive care is like an orchestra; it is important to create a good harmony through teamwork among doctors, nurses, and cooperation with other departments."
