Hanam-si Appoints 114 Additional 3rd Phase Resident Autonomy Committee Members... Anticipating a New Leap Forward

On the 3rd, Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province held a resident autonomy committee member appointment ceremony at the city hall annex auditorium, attended by Mayor Lee Hyun-jae, city council members, and heads of resident autonomy associations from each neighborhood. A total of 114 resident autonomy committee members from Cheonhyeon-dong, Sinjang 1-dong, Sinjang 2-dong, and Misa 1-dong were appointed.

Hanam City held a Resident Autonomy Committee Appointment Ceremony on the 3rd at the City Hall Annex Auditorium, attended by Mayor Lee Hyun-jae, city council members, and heads of each neighborhood resident autonomy committee. The selection and management committees of each neighborhood conducted recruitment for resident autonomy committee members from November 1 to December 4 last year. Final members were selected through a public lottery and interview screening of the applicants.

The Hanam City Resident Autonomy Association is a grassroots organization that discovers and directly implements village projects in various fields such as education, environment, and welfare. It operates in 13 neighborhoods excluding Chungung-dong, which is scheduled for development in the Gyosan district.

Mayor Lee Hyun-jae stated, "Hanam City, which started in 2020 and is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year, has grown into a city of genuine resident autonomy, achieving consecutive excellence awards in the Gyeonggi-do Resident Autonomy Proposal Contest in 2023 and 2024, thanks to the outstanding capabilities of the resident autonomy committee members."

He added, "I hope that the newly appointed resident autonomy committee members will cooperate with the existing members to discover and promote various projects linked with the city, striving to develop Hanam City into an even better place to live."

Hanam City plans to additionally appoint resident autonomy committee members for six neighborhoods?Deokpung 1-dong, Deokpung 2-dong, Deokpung 3-dong, Misa 2-dong, Misa 3-dong, and Choi-dong?by February. The newly appointed resident autonomy committee members will gather residents' opinions from their respective areas and participate in various activities to promote community development and resident autonomy.
