Gwangju City announced on the 3rd that it has decided to extend the operation of the "Jeju Air Passenger Plane Crash Victims Joint Memorial Altar," which is currently installed and operated at the May 18 Democracy Square, even after the national mourning period.

However, the joint memorial altar will remain at the current location in the May 18 Democracy Square until the end of the national mourning period on the 4th, and from the 5th, it will be relocated and operated on the first floor of Jeonil Building 245 nearby.

In particular, at the Jeonil Building 245 joint memorial altar, the spirit tablets of all 179 victims will be enshrined to maintain the atmosphere of remembrance.

The relocation and operation of the joint memorial altar was decided in consultation with representatives of the victims' bereaved families, and the operation period will also be determined through further discussions with the families.
