A man in his 30s who called a YouTuber supporting Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and threatened to kill him has been arrested by the police.
On the 3rd, the Gwacheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they had urgently detained and were investigating Mr. A on charges of intimidation. Mr. A is suspected of calling YouTuber Mr. B, who runs a channel supporting the Democratic Party, around 3 p.m. the previous day with 'caller ID blocked' and saying, "I will kill Leader Lee."
Mr. B, who was near the Government Complex Gwacheon at the time, reported the incident to 112, and the case was received by the Gwacheon Police Station, the jurisdictional police station. The police, who responded to Mr. B's report, apprehended Mr. A in Seoul around noon the next day through communication investigations.
The police plan to decide whether to apply for an arrest warrant after investigating the specific circumstances of the case.
