On the 3rd, Lee Bok-hyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, stated, "Our economy is once again at the center of uncertainty due to domestic political instability and retreating expectations for a base interest rate cut," adding, "I hope the financial sector will once again serve as a pillar at the forefront of the economy."


Governor Lee attended the '2025 Pan-Financial New Year's Meeting' held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu on the 3rd, emphasizing, "Our financial industry has significantly contributed to economic stability by providing timely funding during difficult times." He continued, "As social demands for support of the livelihood economy are expected to increase this year, I urge active efforts in this regard."


He also called on the financial sector to secure sufficient loss-absorbing capacity to ensure the financial system remains stable amid domestic and international environmental changes. Furthermore, he urged mid- to long-term preparations for structural changes such as population decline, digital innovation, and climate change. Additionally, the Financial Supervisory Service pledged to closely communicate with the market to stabilize the financial market and protect financial consumers, and to actively support the future preparedness of the financial industry.


Governor Lee said, "In the Year of the Blue Snake 2025, I sincerely hope that our financial sector will wisely overcome the challenging domestic and international conditions and once again demonstrate its strong vitality."
