The 8th local government’s "Installation and Expansion of Eco-friendly Bus Stop Shelters" project aims to create a convenient and pleasant public transportation environment and promote its use by expanding the installation of smart bus stop shelters. Following the installation of 4 locations in 2023, an additional 12 locations were installed in 2024, completing the project for a total of 16 locations.

Guri City selected 16 project sites suitable for smart shelter installation by conducting a full survey of bus stops within the city, checking passenger numbers and road conditions. The city invested a total of 1.3 billion KRW, including 900 million KRW from the city budget and 400 million KRW from the 2023 Gyeonggi Province Special Adjustment Grant.

The installation locations by administrative district are as follows: ▲ Galmae-dong 6 locations ▲ Donggu-dong 2 locations ▲ Inchang-dong 3 locations ▲ Gyomun 1-dong 1 location ▲ Gyomun 2-dong 1 location ▲ Sutaek 1-dong 1 location ▲ Sutaek 3-dong 2 locations.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, “Smart bus stops are facilities that provide shelter from the cold waves in winter and heat waves in summer, and we expect citizens to be able to use public transportation in a safer and more comfortable environment.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to improve the public transportation environment and enhance citizen convenience to promote the use of public transportation.”

Meanwhile, according to the city, smart shelter-type bus stops can be installed in locations where the sidewalk width is secured to be 4 meters or more, in accordance with the 'Bus Stop Installation and Operation/Management Manual.'

Also, since installation costs are relatively high, to save budget and expand project sites, overlapping facilities such as heated seats were excluded, and only essential facilities such as automatic doors, heating and cooling systems, bus information display boards, CCTV, and emergency bells were included in the installation.
