[Weather] Clear and Cold First Weekend of the New Year in Gwangju and Jeonnam The first weekend of 2025, the year of Eulsa, in Gwangju and Jeonnam is expected to have mostly clear weather, with morning temperatures staying below freezing and strong winds forecasted. Yonhap News

On the first weekend of Eulsanyeon 2025, Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to have mostly clear weather. However, morning temperatures will remain below freezing, and strong winds are expected.


According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 3rd, morning temperatures stayed below freezing, and strong winds with gusts of around 55km/h (15m/s) led to cold weather conditions.


Most areas in Gwangju and Jeonnam will be clear on the 4th due to the influence of a high-pressure system moving eastward from the West Sea.


Morning lows are expected to be -5 degrees Celsius in Gokseong and Boseong, -4 degrees in Damyang and Hwasun, -3 degrees in Jangseong, Gokseong, Gurye, Naju, Yeongam, Jangheung, and Goheung, -2 degrees in Yeonggwang, Suncheon, Muan, Gwangyang, and Haenam, 1 degree in Gwangju and Gangjin, 0 degrees in Mokpo and Yeosu, and 1 degree in Shinan, Jindo, and Wando.


Daytime highs will be 8 degrees Celsius in Jangheung, Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gangjin, Wando, Haenam, and Goheung; 7 degrees in Gwangju, Yeonggwang, Jangseong, Damyang, Gokseong, Gurye, Hampyeong, Muan, Shinan, Naju, Hwasun, Mokpo, Yeongam, Jindo, and Yeosu; and 6 degrees in Boseong, which is higher than the previous day.


Waves on the sea will be 0.5 to 1 meter high off the coast of the West Sea and 0.5 meters off the coast of the South Sea. Fine dust concentrations in both Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to be at a 'moderate' level.


An official from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration said, "Strong winds are expected in most areas of Gwangju and Jeonnam, so please pay attention to the management of facilities and be cautious to prevent safety accidents."
