Yonsei University announced on the 4th that Professor Woo-Young Shim of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering has been appointed as an associate editor of the nano-science and technology specialized journal, Nano Letters.

Nano Letters is a journal published by the American Chemical Society, covering various research results related to nanotechnology, including physics, chemistry, life sciences, and materials science since its inception in 2001. Every year, thousands of papers are submitted, playing an important role for researchers worldwide to present and discuss their research achievements.
Professor Shim has published world-class research results in various fields such as two-dimensional semiconductors, two-dimensional membranes and metals, parallel nanopatterning, and nanoimaging, dedicating himself to developing new technologies utilizing nanomaterials and nano-devices.
Professor Shim’s appointment as associate editor is highly significant as it recognizes his academic leadership and originality of research on a global scale. The associate editor is responsible for evaluating the quality of submitted papers, reviewing the originality and academic contribution of the research, and determining the journal’s direction.
Professor Shim expressed, "I will do my best to ensure that the development of nanotechnology and researchers’ achievements are fairly evaluated," adding, "I will faithfully fulfill my responsibilities as associate editor and enhance the status of Korean science and technology."
