"Swift Arrest Is Essential, Detention Also Inevitable"
"Obstruction of Execution Is Complicity in Insurrection... Do Not Misjudge"
The Democratic Party of Korea on the 3rd explicitly named President Yoon Seok-yeol as a suspect in the charge of rebellion and urged him to comply willingly with the execution of the arrest warrant. They also warned the Presidential Security Service, stating, "Remember that you are not the private soldiers of a suspect in rebellion."
Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, said at the morning Supreme Council meeting, "Yoon Seok-yeol, the ringleader of the rebellion, must pay the price for ordering 'to pull him out even if it means shooting' and attempting to start a war." He added, "Swift arrest is essential to quell public anxiety and confusion, and detention is inevitable. Yoon Seok-yeol should not try to ruin the country until the end but obey the people's order to surrender and comply with the execution of the arrest warrant."
He also issued a warning to the head and deputy head of the Presidential Security Service and the Capital Defense Command, who are confronting the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division executing the warrant. Park said, "Obstructing the execution of the warrant is a serious criminal act and will be punished as special obstruction of official duties and as an accomplice to rebellion. Do not misjudge the situation and actively cooperate with the execution of the arrest warrant for the ringleader of the rebellion."

The Democratic Party also urged the prompt appointment of Ma Eun-hyuk as a Constitutional Court justice nominee. Earlier, on the 31st of last month, Choi Sang-mok, acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, appointed Justices Jo Han-chang and Jeong Gye-seon, increasing the Constitutional Court from a '6-member system' to an '8-member system.' However, the appointment of Ma, one of the two nominees recommended by the Democratic Party, has been delayed. The party warned Acting Prime Minister Choi, saying, "Selective refusal to appoint, despite having no authority to reject the appointment of Constitutional Court justices, is an unconstitutional act."
On the same day, the Democratic Party planned to focus its efforts on impeachment proceedings simultaneously with the arrest of President Yoon by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials. First, they are pressuring the ruling party ahead of the National Assembly's re-vote on the 'Double Special Prosecutor Act' (related to the December 3 rebellion and Kim Geon-hee). They argue that if the ruling party continues to oppose impeachment, it cannot avoid responsibility for worsening public livelihood and economic instability due to political turmoil. They also urged the commencement of the appointment process for the permanent special prosecutor. The Democratic Party stated, "The permanent special prosecutor must promptly request candidates according to the law. This is the way to eliminate economic uncertainty."
