As an arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol was executed on the 3rd, supporters surrounded the presidential residence, while the president's legal team stated that "the execution of the illegal and invalid warrant is also unlawful." The High-ranking Officials' Corruption Investigation Unit (PCC) announced it would take legal action in response to the sudden initiation of the arrest procedure against President Yoon on that day.
Yoon Gap-geun, the president's lawyer, told reporters, "Currently, objection procedures regarding the warrant are underway at the Constitutional Court and the judiciary, and we will take legal measures concerning the illegality of the warrant's execution process." The PCC had requested the court to issue an arrest and search warrant after President Yoon, accused of leading the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law Incident' and charges of abuse of power, failed to comply with three summonses. The warrant was issued on the 31st of last month. For the upcoming investigation, they prepared a questionnaire of about 100 pages and completed preparations for a video interrogation room and a lounge.
At around 6:14 a.m. on the same day, the PCC departed from the Government Complex Gwacheon in five vehicles to execute President Yoon's arrest warrant. Due to traffic congestion and other factors, they arrived at the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at approximately 7:24 a.m. Currently, the PCC is in a standoff in front of the residence. Supporters are holding a large-scale rally and surrounding the residence.
