North Korea Speaks Out on 'Impeachment Crisis'... "Political Functions Paralyzed, Chaos"

"Stop 'Two-Nation Theory' Distancing and Criticize South Korea
"Yoon, Execution of the Arrest Warrant by the Corruption Investigation Office Imminent""

After the emergency martial law situation, North Korea, which had been reserved about the situation in the South, highlighted the arrest crisis of President Yoon Suk-yeol. This is interpreted as an attempt to justify the stability of the North Korean regime by claiming that South Korea's political functions have been paralyzed.

KCNA stated on the 3rd, "Since the emergency martial law situation, unprecedented impeachment incidents have occurred one after another, and arrest warrants have been issued against the president, paralyzing national governance and further expanding social and political chaos. For the first time in constitutional history, impeachment motions against the president and his deputy have been consecutively passed (omitted), and even an arrest warrant has been issued against the president, turning the puppet South Korea into a political chaos with paralyzed functions."

North Korea Speaks Out on 'Impeachment Crisis'... "Political Functions Paralyzed, Chaos" On the morning of the 3rd, as officials from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) arrived at the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Seoul, to execute an arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol, police and officials stood facing the residence in front of the main gate. North Korea reported in relatively detailed terms on the impeachment motion against President Yoon, the impeachment of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, the imminent execution of arrest warrants by the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office (PCC), the ruling and opposition conflicts surrounding the series of impeachments, and rallies for and against impeachment. It even conveyed the contents of a letter President Yoon sent to his supporters on the 1st.

In particular, North Korea claimed, "(Foreign media) criticized that 'South Korea is sinking deeper into the abyss of political turmoil' and that 'although they chanted the free democratic system like a mantra, it is in a collapsed state.'"

North Korea had previously been cautious and reserved about the impeachment political situation. Two days after the impeachment motion was passed, on the 16th of last month, it only briefly reported the related news, noting that it "aroused anger with a forced statement."

North Korea's avoidance of commenting on South Korea's political situation has been interpreted as intentional distancing based on the "hostile two-state theory." The critical report on this day, about half a month later, is evaluated as containing an intention to highlight South Korea's chaos while promoting the stability of the North Korean regime. It was also published in the Rodong Sinmun, which is read by the residents.
