Official Website Launched for 'Piran Capital Busan Heritage'... Busan City Advances UNESCO World Heritage Efforts

Busan City has launched the 'Piran Capital Busan Heritage' website, marking the beginning of a full-scale effort to register it as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

On the 3rd, Busan City announced that it has newly established an official website to increase public consensus and provide accurate information through a single online platform.

'Heritage of Busan, the Piran Capital during the Korean War' was inscribed on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2023. Through the launch of this website, Busan City will proceed with follow-up procedures related to the World Heritage registration. It aims to bring the value and historical significance of the Piran Capital heritage closer to its citizens.

Busan City’s Cultural Heritage Division and New Media Office collaborated to build this website in December last year, and after a one-month pilot operation, it was officially launched. The website is provided as an independent page under the 'Culture, Sports and Tourism' category on the city’s official website. Previously scattered information can now be accessed in one integrated space.

Considering the importance of delivering information overseas, an English version of the website was also launched. Through this, Busan plans to actively promote the historical value of the Piran Capital Busan Heritage worldwide. The website also includes information on citizen participation programs such as the cultural heritage festival 'Piran Capital Busan Cultural Heritage Night Tour' and the Citizen Academy.

Jo Yujang, Director of the Culture and Sports Bureau of Busan City, said, “Through the launch of this website, we will widely publicize Busan’s historical assets and get closer to our citizens.”
