This festival took place over 12 days around Ilsan Culture Square, centered on the Goyang Tourism Information Center, a hub of the Goyang Tourism Special Zone.

At the festival site, various light sculptures themed around Christmas and flowers were illuminated daily from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., drawing admiration from many visitors. Additionally, busking performances featuring local artists were held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the festival period, delighting attendees with Christmas carols and K-pop songs.

In particular, on December 24 and 25, a special Christmas performance featuring popular pop singers and dance teams was held in connection with the Gyeonggi-do Cultural Seasons project. Approximately 8,000 people attended over the two days, creating memories with family, friends, and loved ones while enjoying K-pop music.

Moreover, a media facade video was projected on the exterior wall of the Goyang Tourism Information Center in sync with the Christmas light sculpture illumination times, providing a spectacular winter night attraction. Inside, a Christmas market was held for 12 days, selling various handmade crafts and Goyang city branded tourism souvenirs.

This festival is significant in that it moved away from a government-led event to various promotions and events in collaboration with local businesses. Visitors who presented receipts showing purchases over 30,000 won within the Goyang Tourism Special Zone could exchange them for souvenirs such as magnets, eco-bags, and fabric calendars. Additionally, about 1,200 visitors participated in a festival satisfaction survey event where they received LED rose flowers, showing high satisfaction.

Furthermore, visitors praised the indoor rest area decorated with a Christmas theme, where they could fully enjoy the festival by tasting Christmas cookies and vin chaud developed through a joint promotion with a youth cafe.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said upon successfully concluding the festival, “I hope the K-pop Kkotpop Goyang Christmas Festival will establish itself as a representative festival of the Goyang Tourism Special Zone and help our city leap forward as a Hallyu cultural city that foreign tourists must visit.”

Meanwhile, the ‘K-pop Kkotpop Goyang Christmas Festival’ was selected in July last year through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘Tourism Special Zone Revitalization Support’ public contest and was carried out with national and provincial funding.
