Maha Vajiralongkorn, the King of Thailand, sent a letter of condolence regarding the Jeju Air disaster to Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Strategy and Finance.


On the 2nd, local broadcaster Channel 7 reported that King Maha Vajiralongkorn sent a letter to Acting President Choi expressing that he felt "great shock and sorrow" over the Jeju Air accident that occurred at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do.


In the letter, King Maha Vajiralongkorn stated, "Many people have died, including two Thai nationals," and added, "It will take a long time for us to come to terms with this tragedy."


He continued, "On behalf of the Thai people, the Queen and I extend our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families who will suffer great sorrow from this accident, as well as to the people of the Republic of Korea."


In this accident, out of 181 passengers on board, 179 lost their lives, including two Thai nationals.


The funeral for one of the Thai victims, Mr. J (45), was held today at a funeral hall in Gwangju.
