West Sea Coast Guard Pays Tribute at Memorial Tower, Vows to Ensure Maritime Safety

Starting the New Year by Honoring the Sacrifice of Fallen Police Officers

The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Lee Myungjun) began the year of Eulsanyeon 2025 by paying tribute at the Bohungsan Memorial Tower in Mokpo on the 2nd.


Chief Lee Myungjun of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency and other attendees expressed their gratitude and honored the spirit of sacrifice by saluting the national flag, offering flowers and incense at the memorial tower, paying tribute and observing a moment of silence for fallen patriots and soldiers, and offering flowers and observing a moment of silence for fallen police officers at the memorial tablet enshrinement site.

Chief Lee Myungjun said, "We pay tribute to all those who sacrificed for the nation and the people, and we will do our utmost this year to uphold their will by safeguarding maritime sovereignty and strengthening maritime safety."


Meanwhile, at the memorial tablet enshrinement site of Bohungsan Memorial Tower, there are 638 memorial tablets, including those of eight fallen police officers such as the late Inspector Park Kyungjo, who died in the line of duty in 2008 while cracking down on illegal foreign fishing vessels.
