Details of Support and Timing for Task Proposals to Be Announced at Joint Ministry Briefing Session
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 2nd that it has finalized a comprehensive implementation plan for research and development (R&D) projects, investing 6.3214 trillion KRW in R&D projects this year.
The Ministry explained that it set investment goals to create an R&D ecosystem tailored to field demands, achieve an AI-driven transformation, and establish a foundation for technology commercialization.
The investment amount excludes funds allocated to government-funded research institutes (GFRIs), Ministry-affiliated GFRIs, and support projects for scientific and technological organizations from the Ministry's total R&D budget of 9.6671 trillion KRW this year. This represents an increase of 1.0147 trillion KRW compared to last year.
By sector, the science and technology field increased by 23.6% from last year to 5.0058 trillion KRW, and the information and communication technology (ICT) and broadcasting (ICT) sector increased by 12.9% to 1.3156 trillion KRW.
The government plans to hold a joint briefing session with government R&D project departments at the end of this month to explain the specific details of R&D support, the timing of project calls, procedures, and more.
