Four Additional Coverages Added Including Sexual Violence Crime Victims
Jinan County in North Jeolla Province is implementing the 'Citizen Safety Insurance' for residents until December 31.
According to the county on the 2nd, the Citizen Safety Insurance was established to provide coverage for residents in the event of unexpected disasters or accidents in daily life.
The coverage applies to all residents (including foreigners) who are registered in Jinan County, and everyone is automatically enrolled without any separate application process, allowing all to benefit from the insurance.
The main coverage items include 31 types such as: death or disability from natural or social disasters, death or disability from explosion, fire, or collapse, death or disability from public transportation accidents, death or disability from hit-and-run or uninsured vehicles, death or disability from agricultural machinery accidents, and death from drowning accidents.
This year, four additional coverages were added: sexual violence crime victim compensation, sexual violence crime injury, serious crime injury, and diagnosis fees for dog bite or collision accidents.
The maximum payout for death due to social disasters has been raised to 20 million KRW, and for seven items including agricultural machinery accident death, the limit has been increased to 30 million KRW. Two items, such as robbery injury death, have been excluded, and the payout for disability from chartered bus accidents has been reduced to 5 million KRW.
Additionally, the coverage for personal mobility device accident death or disability has been expanded to include electric wheelchairs and medical scooters.
Since the first implementation in 2018, the county has provided compensation totaling over 500 million KRW for 50 safety accidents over the past seven years, serving as a reliable partner for residents.
The county plans to thoroughly promote the insurance by producing brochures and posters, displaying numerous banners, and conducting on-site promotions at places with high foot traffic such as Jinan Gowon Market, to ensure that residents do not miss out on claiming insurance benefits due to lack of information.

County Governor Jeon Chunsung said, "We will continue to expand and operate the Citizen Safety Insurance to protect the safety and property of our residents, and strive to create a county where everyone can live with peace of mind."
