Considering that the day was designated by the government as a national mourning period to honor the victims, the ceremony was conducted simply and solemnly. The attendees reflected on the noble spirit of the patriotic martyrs and national heroes, held a moment of silence to express condolences for the victims of the passenger plane accident, and then shared New Year's greetings starting with Chairman Im Jong-hoon and Mayor Baek Young-hyun. They also exchanged opinions on the direction and goals for the new year and offered well-wishes.

In his greeting, Chairman Im Jong-hoon said, “I am grateful to my fellow council members and all public officials, including Mayor Baek Young-hyun, who did their best in their respective positions during the eventful past year.” He added, “In the new year, I hope Pocheon City will develop further as everyone continues to do their best in their assigned roles.”

He continued, “I have set the legislative direction for 2025 as ‘communication,’ and I will do my utmost for the leap forward and development of Pocheon City and the well-being of its citizens by actively communicating with citizens, fellow council members, and the executive branch.”

Mayor Baek Young-hyun responded, “This year, I will work to create a forward-moving Pocheon City through more communication with the council members.”

Meanwhile, the Pocheon City Council plans to operate a total of 85 days of legislative sessions, including two regular sessions and four extraordinary sessions, starting with the 184th extraordinary session on February 13.
