Yeoncheon-gun Secures 17.1 Billion KRW in National Funding for Special Situation Area Development Project... Largest Ever

Daegwang-Dapgok Road Construction Project and 13 Other Projects

Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 2nd that three projects were selected for the 2025 Special Situation Area Development New Projects hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a record-high national subsidy of 17.1 billion KRW.

This achievement is the result of securing additional financial incentives from the central government by obtaining an excellent grade in the 2024 Regional Balanced Development Project evaluation conducted by the Local Era Committee, and it is regarded as the fruit of various projects that Yeoncheon-gun has continuously promoted with the goal of regional balanced development.


The Special Situation Area Development Project is a project supported 80% by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to improve residential conditions and regional development for residents in the border areas of Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Gangwon (including Yeoncheon) that have been marginalized in regional development due to the division between South and North Korea and geographical conditions, as well as island areas.


This year, Yeoncheon-gun’s Special Situation Area Development Project consists of a total of 13 projects, with new projects amounting to 1.6 billion KRW and existing ongoing projects totaling 15.5 billion KRW, securing a national subsidy of 17.1 billion KRW to improve local living infrastructure and contribute to enhancing residents’ quality of life.


The newly selected Special Situation Area Development Projects (based on national subsidy) are △ Daegwang-Dapgok (Sinseo Route 201) Road Construction Project (total 7.2 billion KRW) △ Hantan Railroad Bridge Remodeling Project (total 4.8 billion KRW) △ Dongi District Surface Water Reinforcement Development Project (total 1.6 billion KRW), aiming to improve roads, tourism, and agricultural infrastructure to enhance residents’ convenience and revitalize the local economy.


Kim Deok-hyun, Mayor of Yeoncheon-gun, stated, “Yeoncheon-gun will continue to actively secure national subsidies to discover and promote various projects for balanced regional development, and we will do our best to create tangible changes that residents can feel.”
