Deployment of 6 Mobile Base Stations... Expansion of Communication Equipment
Free Wi-Fi, Monitoring Personnel, and More in Operation
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 2nd that it is providing communication services to the bereaved families and mourners at the site to facilitate the smooth handling of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.
On the day of the accident, December 29 last year, the Ministry of Science and ICT prepared to support communication services in anticipation of a large number of people gathering at the airport and the joint memorial altar (Muan Comprehensive Sports Park).
Together with the three mobile carriers, they proactively deployed five mobile base station vehicles and increased the traffic capacity by installing 32 additional communication devices with specialized personnel.
Subsequently, in response to the increasing crowd at the site, one more mobile base station was deployed, and free Wi-Fi was installed and provided at the airport and the joint memorial altar. Fifty-eight on-site support personnel are operating to monitor traffic concentration and respond to real-time situations.
Additionally, nine mobile phone charging stations and 900 auxiliary batteries are being provided to ensure that on-site personnel, including the bereaved families, can use their mobile phones and the internet without inconvenience.
Ryu Jae-myung, Director of the Network Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “We will continue to support the mobile carriers to ensure there are no inconveniences until the accident handling at the site is completed.”
